PCs Deserve Right To Monitor Local Governments: Ezedyar

Kabul (BNA) Mohammad Alam Ezedyar the first deputy to senate and second deputy to the house, Mohammad Asif Sediqi in meeting with the members of provincial councils (PCs) of Kabul, Parwan, Panjshir, Kandahar, Nimroz, Zabul, Logar, Kapisa and Daikundi provinces here yesterday said that the members of provincial councils have the right to monitor the work of the local governments; otherwise the existence of provincial councils is meaningless, Senate press office reported BNA.
Reacting to the House of People decision to annul the right of provincial councils to observe the performances of local governments, Ezedyar said that absence of monitoring paves the way for corruption. Members of provincial councils have called upon the president not to enact the bill passed by the house of people. They also warned to shut down the doors of provincial councils in all provinces of the country if their demand overlooked. Both the deputies of senate in the meeting pledged to take the issue with president and would do their best to solve the problem.
