Efforts Underway To Release 31 Abductees: CE

Kabul (BNA) The chief executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah has said that serious efforts are underway to secure the safe release of the 31 countrymen from the clutch of kidnappers in Zabul province.
Presiding the meeting of Council of Ministers, here yesterday, he stated that the pain and sadness of the families and relatives of the abducted citizens are tangible, saying that from the beginning of the abduction, the government has been striving hard to ensure their release in its earliest.
However, he didn’t give details, saying due to security reasons and the safety of the abductees he can’t go to details.
A total of 31 passengers were kidnapped by armed men in Shahjoi district of Zabul province on Kabul-Kandahar highway on Hoot 5 and it is said that the Taliban militants have taken them to mountainous areas.
Dr. Abdullah lauded the services of BNA as a national institution and said its problems would be reviewed.
The chief executive in the meeting had tasked the in-charges of ministries of information and culture and finance to find a solution for the problem of BNA.
