Kabul (BNA)  The Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan welcomed the leader of Hezb-e-Islami, Gulbuddin Hekmatyar to his country, a presidential statement said, adding his return to normal life was facilitated through Afghan-owned peace negotiations, resulting in a peace agreement signed between the Afghan Government and Hezb-e-Islami Afghanistan.
“The successful results of Afghan-owned negotiations between the Afghan Government and Hezb-e-Islami and the return of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar showed that the Afghan people possess the capacity and ability to seek peaceful and fundamental solutions to their own conflicts and problems,” the statement added.
According to presidential statement, the return of Gulbuddin Hekmatyar will have a considerable impact on ensuring peace, stability, and development in Afghanistan, as he wanted to contribute toward these areas in partnership with the Government.
“The Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan has the authority and firm determination for peace. It invites all opponents and the Afghan Taliban to join Afghan-owned peace talks and contribute in development of the country and prosperity of the people in partnership with the Government, instead of ruining the country, plaguing the people, and resorting to violence and fighting,” the statement concluded.
