Tuesday, May 31, 2016
Kabul (BNA) Calling for sanctions against Pakistan, the Meshrano Jirga session on Sunday asked the United Nations (UN) to add the country to the list of terrorist states.
Senator Maulvi Mohiuddin Munsif said: “The killing of Taliban leader Mullah Mansour and holding funeral ceremony for him in Pakistan show, the country is the main cause of problems in Afghanistan. It is questionable why the UN doesn’t impose sanctions on Pakistan.”
He said the neighbor country must be added to the list of terrorist countries as its real face exposed to all people in the world.
At a meeting on Saturday, Council of Protection and Stability of Afghanistan head Abdur Rab Rassoul Sayyaf said Pakistan should stop interfering in Afghanistan.
“I want to tell Pakistan you are now exposed to the entire world. If you don’t stop sponsoring the scourge, you would be added to the list of terrorist sates,” Sayyaf had said.
Another senator, Mohammad Hassan Hotak, supported Sayyaf’s statement and said: “Pakistan is the main cause of death and destruction in Afghanistan. The country should be added to the list of terrorists.”
Gulalai Akbari, another member, also asked the administrative board of the upper house to order the government to cooperate with strategic allies of Afghanistan and add Pakistan to the UN’s blacklist.
A number of other senators stressed on peace and stability in Afghanistan and agreed with other colleagues in adding Pakistan to black list.
Farhad Sakhi, the first deputy chairman who chaired the session, also supported Sayyaf’s views. He called peace the only and just demand of all Afghans.
He asked the international community to be honest in cooperating with Afghanistan on the issue of restoring stability.
