Kabul (BNA) Memorandum of Understanding of cooperation has been signed between development independent board of Kabul New City and Ministry of Commerce and Industries (MoIC) few days ago.
Based on the same MoU, MoIC is committed to encourage the private capital holders to invest in industrial parks of Kabul New City and prepare the ground for them. This MoU signed by deputy of development administration of Kabul New City and acting minister of commerce and industries, Muzamel Shinwary recently. Shinwary told media that because of insecurity, capital holders don’t want to invest in remotest provinces of the country. According to this MoU, the ministry prepares the ground for investment in industrial parks of Kabul New City. Five standardized industrial parks to be built in Kabul New City project. At the same time, deputy of development administration of Kabul New City Ilham Omer Hotaki said that first part of industrial park of Kabul New City to be built in an area of 2500 jereeb of land that has the capacity of about $ two billion. Hotaki added that the Kabul New City is designed in a manner that in the future to be changed into a great economic center in the country. Considering its area, the Kabul New City is two and half folds larger than the present Kabul city. The in-charges of Kabul New City project say that this project is not only in Afghanistan, but in level of region, is a larger one. Acting chief of development independent board of Kabul New City, Yousuf Pashtoon said that the project of Kabul New City not only solve the problem of shelter in Kabul, but this city would provide employment and would play great role in the economy of the country.
First, about 200,000 to 300,000 and in the future, till 500,000 people would be engaged in simple labor. Previously, with using of their power, some powerful individuals wanted to prevent the promotion of project and were claiming that this project is built on their personal properties. Pashtoon stated that about 60 percent of this problem is solved through people’s councils. But now, with using of forces, someone are making effort the project to be failed. Despite security problem, the sabotage of powerful individuals, and lack of constructional capacity in the country are from among basic problems faced by Kabul New City development project. About before ten years, the project of development of Kabul New City has begun and according to in-charges concerned, complete building of this city would cover about 30 years. Now, the infrastructural works of this project is continuing and so far, its practical work has not been started.
At the same time, the MoU of cooperation has been signed between independent board of Kabul New City and ministry of commerce and industry in a time that a number of residential of Kabul city are suffering from shelter-lessens. A Kabul resident, Ahmad Nabi says that since long, I live in rented house. Despite, I am a citizen of this country but, so far, I have no personal residential quarter. He says that any time that the government reports that it has in its hand a plan to build a project of house construction, it attracts my attention. But, the townships are built are not suitable for those who have low income and so far, I am vagabond in different parts of the City. According to the countrymen, how much such townships are built, such people like me are shelter-less, because, the prices of townships are not compatible with our economic situation.
