Karzai Says He Will Stay In Afghanistan, Serve Nation

Kabul (BNA) In a farewell meeting with Afghan security officials, President Hamid Karzai said that he would stay in the country and serve Afghans. During the meeting he appreciated sacrifices and efforts of the security forces to defend Afghanistan from evil forces. In the meeting which was organized in Presidential Palace on Thursday morning, Karzai said that security forces have rendered matchless sacrifices to defend their homeland. Karzai once again urged the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) to remain patriot, love whole country, and appreciate sacrifices of the martyrs. “I will stay in the country, and as a former president I will appreciate security forces whenever will meet with them.”
Karzai said, “I once again thank all of you for working with me over the past 13 years and accepting my every order and direction with patience and tolerance.” He directed the security forces officials to continue serving their country under the new government as they did in past 13 years. “We have covered a long distance in the past 13 years, but still a long way is ahead achieve the goal of comfortable life. There is no doubt that we are on way towards prosperity and will attain this goal through your [ANSF] efforts,” he said to the security officials.
While appreciating President Karzai’s efforts and cooperation for strengthening and equipping Afghan National Army (ANA) which is now capable of defending the country, Defense Minister Bismillah Khan Mohammadi, said the incumbent president is the founder of ANA. Interior Deputy Minister, Gen. Ayoub Salangi, also appreciated efforts of President Karzai for strengthening Afghan National Police (ANP). Chief of the National Directorate of Security, Rahmatullah Nabil, also lauded Karzai for his full support to the NDS to serve the country. He vowed that NDS would continue to benefit from valuable advices and directions of the outgoing president. At the end of the meeting, the security officials presented gifts to the incumbent president.
