MoF Rejects Reports of Ministries’ Assessment Published By SIGAR

Sunday, February 02, 2014
Kabul (BNA) Ministry of Finance has seriously rejected recent report published recently by Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) related to assessment of Afghanistan ministries.
According to Ministry of Finance, World Bank in its 2012 report provided related to public expenditures and accountability of Afghanistan considered Afghanistan public expenditures system as better than all less-developed and developing countries and equal to countries having middle income. Meanwhile, International Budget Partnership has considered Afghanistan budget system as the second transparent system in South Asia and the fourth transparent system in Asia, while the 26th transparent system worldwide.
“SIGAR even cannot give an example to prove its assessment related to misusing and faking in US direct assistance to national budget of Afghanistan,” MoF said. Ministry of Finance and Afghanistan government were, therefore, ignoring recent expressions and assessments of SIGAR.
