Simon Political Group Calls On President

Kabul (BNA) A delegation of Simon Political Group called on President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in Arg yesterday and stressed for giving more role to youth in the government departments.
Speaking on behalf of others, Malalai Shinwari and Mukhtar Ghafarzai said that bolstering youth’s role in government departments and strengthening relations between government and the youths of the country can help overcome problems. The delegation also pointed out that the group which is composed of professional people and students from across the country would help the government implement its strategy in all fields. After listening the delegation’s proposals, the President said in the next meeting it should come up with special mechanism and national vision. Following Islamic Sharia or laws and implementing the constitution is the solution to the country’s problems. The President pointed out. He also added that the second 100-day working plans of the ministries should be national one to cover the provinces.
According to another report, the President in meeting with the delegation of the industrialists’ association here in Arg the other day stressed for boosting local products, saying no government department has the right to include foreign products in its proposal lists. Meantime, head of the industrialists’ association Shir Baz Kaminzada thanked the President for paying attention to the demands of the industrialists. However, Kaminzada apprised the President about the problems of industrialists in the country, saying that lack of industrial parks, increase in custom tariff, shortage of power, lack of loan to industrialists are among main challenges that the industrialists are faced. The President after listening to their problems had promised to find amicable solutions and the problems of lands would soon be solved. According to another report, President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani chaired the weekly session of the National Procurement Commission in Arg the other day. The Second Vice-President Mohammad Sarwar Danesh and Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah were also present in the meeting. In the session, contracts from the Ministries of Agriculture, Public Works, Public Health, Interior, National Defense and Independent Authority of Civil Aviation were evaluated.
Some contracts were approved and others were deferred for necessary modifications. The Director of National Procurement Office Yama Yari said that one hundred twenty four contracts worth twenty-four billion Afghanis have been evaluated in the last eight sessions of the commission so far. According to Mr. Yari eighty-two contracts worth thirteen billion Afghanis have been processed; twenty contracts have rejected and twenty-two are being closely studied for correction or modification. More than five billion Afghanis have been saved in the above contracts, which is a great achievement for the national treasury. Concerning the contract of the Ministry of Agriculture involving construction of five slaughterhouses, the President said that a study to assess its environmental impacts should be conducted and local people should be consulted prior to implementation of the project. The President also directed the Ministry of Public Works to report on the progress of the Kabul-Arghandi road project on a monthly basis and asked the Ministry to engage local people in the monitoring process. The President instructed the Ministry of Economy to evaluate services delivered by the Ministry of Public Health in a number of provinces as a sample in order to determine quality and specialization in the public health sector with a focus on women’s access to health facilities.
