Telecommunication, IT Minister Attends Upper House Session

Kabul (BNA) In a session of Upper House held yesterday under speaker of Fazil Hadi Muslimyar, Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology answered senators’ questions related to relevant issues to the country’s telecommunication.
In the session, the senators while praising the ministry for its achievements in telecommunication and information technology sectors asked questions about safety of telephone calls of the country’s citizens in particular political figures, quality of telephone contacts, presence of unregistered Sim-cards, lack of telecommunication networks in a number of districts and rural areas, existing of a number of videos unlike Islamic and national values in internet sites as You Tube, using of some fake networks of Facebook by using other people’s names, suggestion for stopping cable networks, changing TV systems from analog to digital and others. Ministry of telecommunication while speaking related to remarkable development of Afghanistan in telecommunication and informational technology said 20 million sim-cards have been distributed by telecommunication companies to Afghan citizens so far, adding prevention of unregistered sim-cards were impossible in the country due to lack of standard ID cards and exact addresses of the country’s citizens.
He said a number of people by using sim-boxes provided with help of some individuals from Iran, Bangladesh and Pakistan made use of telephone calls, adding most of individuals involved in this case have been arrested.
