Abdullah Meets UNHCR Representative

Kabul (BNA) Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Chief Executive met the other day with UNHCR chairman Bushak at the Sapidar Palace. According to BNA, in the meeting UNHCR chairman briefed on Afghan displaced families, Afghan refugees to Iran and Afghanistan and voluntarily repatriation of the refugees to their homeland. “UNHCR has jointly worked with relevant ministries in Afghanistan on a mechanism which would ease repatriation process of the Afghan refugees in future,” He said. He also expressed concern over those Afghan families displaced from remote villages and areas to cities for better services and preferring urban living. In this meeting, Dr. Abdullah discussed on a plan prepared by a number of relevant ministries for providing assistance to repatriated Afghan families.
Dr. Abdullah said Afghanistan’s new government and ministry of refugees and repatriations would work with neighboring countries on a mechanism in which the Afghan refugees voluntarily return their homeland. Chief Executive added the government has put voluntarily repatriation of the Afghan refugees from foreign countries in its priority. According to another report, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah met the other day with NATO General Commander to Afghanistan Gen. John F. Campbell. In the meeting, Gen. Campbell briefed about recent security developments, problems and activities in Afghanistan. Gen. Campbell also briefed about training and equipping of the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF), adding they have rapidly developed in all fields. In this meeting, Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah praised the international forces for their cooperation provided for supporting the ANSF in the country. Chief Executive while supporting NATO’s Resolute Support mission asked for further development and strengthening of the mission in Afghanistan.
