Afghan Satellite To Be Replaced In Orbit Within Month

Kabul (BNA) Ministry of Telecommunication and Information Technology Wednesday signed MoU with a French company related to connection of Afghanistan with the world by installation of the first satellite in space orbit.
Signing the agreement, Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology Eng. Amirzai Sangin said, “Afghanistan is located in 50 degree of east in the world satellite and is a particular location for Afghanistan, which hasn’t used of the location so far.”
For providing better services in telecommunication, television and internet sectors, Ministry of Telecommunication and Information Technology is willing to install a satellite on the earth orbit.
Therefore, the ministry has launched international bidding process won finally by a French company (Utel Sat). The company, which will place a satellite called (Afghan Sat) in the space, will be obliged to complete the process within a month.
According to Sangin, the satellite will provide live facilities in telecommunication, television, radio and internet sectors country-wide. “Afghanistan will get privilege from its location in the space and will receive also $ 15 million from its privilege annually.  Utel Sat is responsible for all expenditures of the satellite,” Amirzai Sangin further said.
Acting Minister of Information and Culture Nabi Farahi also spoke and said, “By installation of the satellite, Afghanistan media publications will improve and the neighboring countries and Middle East will make use of Afghan networks.” It is worth mentioning that the agreement was signed between Technical Deputy Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology Eng. Baryali Hasaam and chairman of Utel Sat.
