President Ghani Meets British Secretary of State For Foreign Affairs

Kabul (BNA) Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan met the other day with British Secretary of State for Foreign, Philip Hammond, the BNA reported.
At the outset, the British Foreign Minister delivered the good wishes of his country’s leadership to President Ghani and also briefed him on his country’s plans to Afghanistan and the region, according to the agency.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on security, peace process, economic development programs, elections and further enhancing of bilateral relations, BNA further said.
Mr. Hammond also expressed gratitude for accepting his country’s PM invitation by the president to participate in ‘International Conference on Fighting Corruption’, BNA added.
Likewise, in the meeting, both sides discussed on the Afghan security and defensive forces capabilities with the difficulties they faced with, in the outgoing year, BNA continued.
The Afghan security and defensive forces could successfully suppress the enemies in different parts of the country, which is a strong point of them, Hammond further said.
President Ghani after listening to Mr. Hammond’s talks, thanked the Britain for its cooperation with Afghanistan in the fields of elections, peace process and Marshal Fahim’s Police Academy, the report added.
President Ghani also added that the Afghan security and defensive forces capabilities have increased in the last one year.
On peace process, President Ghani said, to restore peace and stability in the country, all armed insurgents have been invited to set around the peace negotiation table, but those groups are not willing to stop violence would face military force.
On Afghan immigrants in Britain, Mr. Hammond said, ‘A number of those who illegally reached Britain have been deported, and the cases of those who have newly applied to seek asylum there are under investigation.’
Furthermore, Mr. Hammond assured the president on his country’s continued cooperation to Afghanistan.
