CM Discusses Draft Law On Money Laundering, Income From Crime

Kabul (BNA) President Hamid Karzai chaired yesterday the plenary meeting of the Council of Ministers at the presidential palace during which justice minister presented the draft law on money laundering and the income of crimes which has been reviewed by the law-making and scientific-legal institute of justice ministry as per advice of CM.
Information and public relation department of administrative office said BNA,  the ministry of justice and the related organs by using the experience from the laws of other countries and in the light of the Constitution brought about some changes in the law and some of the banking idioms were omitted and some other necessary issues were added to the law on money laundering and the income from crimes.
The Council of Ministers after assessing the law decided that the draft law is further enriched and presented to another CM meeting for decision.
Minister of finance, presented the joint proposal of the government and the private sector of Afghanistan pertaining to the policy for encouragement of investments and its implementation and added, the participants of this conference held a meeting on the sixth of Dalwa (January 26)  of current year and after assessment of the policy during the transition period and implementation of its benefits prepared a detailed proposal covering 14 articles relating to the carrying of its procedures of the law   on mines and petroleum, prevention of money laundering from the income of crimes, prevent financing of terrorism, formation of consortium from the productive plants in making cloths and military boots, standard medicine, incorporating the health sector in the policy for encouraging investments during the transition period, prioritizing usage of domestic products, distribution of land at the Kabul Industrial Parks, the draft encouraging policy for supporting women entrepreneurs, rebuilding of industrial development bank, increasing the validity period of investment permits, creation of balance for domestic airlines flights and support to the domestic airlines.
The CM confirmed the proposal and instructed the ministries of economy and finance that those issues requiring much debate is presented to the CM economic committee.
At the end of the meeting the CM discussed a report of the assigned commission for assessing the incident in lapis lazuli mine of Keran wa Munjan of Badakhshan and it was decided that the ministries of interior, mines and the local organs department study the report and correct it as per the viewpoints of the meeting.
