Instability In Kandahar Means Instability In All Afghanistan’, President Ghani

Kabul (BNA) Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan paid a visit to Kandahar to review security situation and problems of the people of the province yesterday.
President Ghani first visited 205 Atal Corps in the province and later on met with Kandahar provincial council members, influential figures, women, youths and representatives of cultural societies and national traders at Mandigak Palace in Kandahar. In the meeting, Mohammad Humayoun Azizi, governor of Kandahar first spoke and said that security in the province had improved, but there were problems in good governance sector which should be addressed. Later on, Kandahar representatives while enumerating problems in the province as lack of electricity, agriculture, education, unemployment and corruption asked for serious reforms in municipality, judicial organs and all provincial directorates of the province. Hearing carefully demands of the representatives, the country’s President said, “Kandahar is the political heart of Afghanistan.” President Ghani said that Kandahar governor was his special envoy and there was no power in the province and they would jointly work as there was one will and determination. Recalling of martyr Hashmat Khalil Karzai, President Ghani considered maintaining peace and tranquility in Kandahar as his desire, saying that peace and development were the desire of martyr Hashmat Karzai and he would seriously follow it. Pointing out to setting up cold stores in Kandahar, the country’s President said that talks had been held with Iran related to marketing of Kandahar fruits. President Ghani also vowed to increase female employees in the government offices, provide education facilities to women and support female traders and handicrafts in the country. the country’s President also stressed on enhancement of education quality, improvement of university and reconstruction of irrigation system in the province. Related to peace talks, President Ghani asserted that Durand issue was not and would not be included in peace talks as it was up to the people of Afghanistan to decide on Durand line not him. At the end of his visit to Kandahar, President Ghani paid a visit to Khirqa ‘Cloak’ in Kandahar.
