Kabul (BNA) The authorities of Ministry Public Work (MPW) say according the program designed by the authorities of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan; the country will have 50,550 km railroads until 2027, in a way that it will become a connection point for economic cooperation of the countries of the region.
BNA economic affairs analyst commenting on the issue writes Islamic Republic of Afghanistan during the last years has tries its best to withdraw from geographical isolations. The land–locked Afghanistan earlier was relied mostly to Pakistani’s borders. Pakistan for achieving its illegal and ambitious goals mostly used transit roads as a means of pressure against Afghan people and government, which caused heavy economic losses for our country. The Afghan government to overcome this artificial barrier, during the last years, tried its best to find an alternative way and fortunately has certain successes in that regard.
Agreement between India, Afghanistan and Iran on using Chabahar border, inauguration of Lajaward (Lapis Lazuli) Transit Road which connects Afghanistan via Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey to Europe, exploiting from Hiratan–China railroad and finally inaugurating and utilizing Aqina railroad are among the achievements of Afghan Unity Government. Without doubt, these great achievements would lead to the economic growth of Afghanistan and rescue the country from economic isolation forever. According to the minister of Public Work Ministry, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan plans to connect Afghanistan via railroads to the world’s railroads networks.
Implementing these great programs in practice, will lead in to a great development in the level of the region because this would not be only to the benefit of Afghanistan but accelerate regional economic and commercial cooperation among the countries of the region that would be vital for economic prosperity of the entire region. In this way, Afghanistan opens the gates to the goods of other countries to use Afghan transit roads without any discrimination and political purpose in one hand, in the other hand strengthens its status as a connection point among the countries of the region.
