Sunday, August 28, 2016

Kabul (BNA) President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani this morning visited the American University of Afghanistan (AUAF) and the Vocational Institute for the Blind, and promised that the government will spare no efforts to ensure that these institutions fully resume operations.
Observing the damage caused by Wednesday’s terrorist attack at AUAF, the President said that the entire nation and state grieves the attack on an educational institution and wounding and martyring of our country’s future-builders; but terrorists and their supporters should know that our resolve to build a prosperous Afghanistan and crush our enemy remains solid as ever.
The President said that he has asked security agencies and specifically the National Security Advisor to fully survey the area and strengthen security measures. He also stressed better fortifications for the university so that students can continue their studies with peace of mind.
The President of American University of Afghanistan Mark English thanked the President for his attention and following the situation as it was unfolding. He commended the sacrifices of the National Security and Defense Forces, especially the 222 Crisis Response Unit. The President of AUAF said that the Masters of Business Administration classes will resume starting today so that a clear message is sent to terrorists that Afghans are not intimidated by their attacks and remain determined to build their country with education.
The President then visited the Vocational Institute for the Blind to assess the situation in the aftermath of the attack. The Institute’s management thanked the National Security and Defense Forces for their efforts and asked the President for assistance to rehabilitate the school. The President ordered a full survey of the damaged areas and promised that the school will be rehabilitated as soon as possible so that classes proceed as usual.
