Obama, Modi Greet President Karzai On Afghanistan Independent Day

Kabul (BNA) US President Barack Obama has greeted President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai on the country’s 95th Independence Day, the presidential palace said in a statement Sunday.
Press office for the president quoted US president Barack Obama as hailing the Afghan people, “both men and women, who went in millions to vote and take part in a democratic process.”
The president reiterated his country’s support to Afghanistan and said the United States was waiting to witness the outcome of the elections. He also pledged long term support by the US to reconstruction of Afghanistan and to conclude with, he extended his best wishes to the people and government of Afghanistan and hoped a safe and peaceful future for them. According to another report, in a letter to President Karzai, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulates the President and people of Afghanistan for the 95th anniversary of Afghanistan’s Independence Day.
The letter reads as follows:
Excellency,
On behalf of the Government and people of India, I have great pleasure in extending to you and the friendly people of Afghanistan our warm greetings and heartiest felicitations on the occasion of the Independence Day of Afghanistan.
As a close friend and neighbor, India attaches the highest importance to further strengthening its multifaceted strategic partnership with Afghanistan, which is based on the foundation of enduring goodwill between our people, shared development aspirations and a common quest for peace and stability in the region. India will continue to extend its full support to the government and people of Afghanistan in their efforts to build a strong, peaceful, united, democratic and prosperous Afghanistan.
I take this opportunity to convey my best wishes for Your Excellency’s good health and well-being, as also for the progress and prosperity of the friendly people of Afghanistan.
