Italy To Sign Long-term Cooperation Agreement With Afghanistan

Kabul (BNA) Dr. Zalmai Rasuol Minister of Foreign Affairs in his meeting with the Italian defense minister congratulated him on his appointment as defense minister of Italy and thanked Italy for its assistance in reconstruction of Afghanistan and sacrifices of the Italian soldiers for ensuring of security in Afghanistan. 
Dr. Zalmai Rasuol said that staying of two kings of Afghanistan in Italy indicates historic ties between the two nations. 
The Italian ambassador expressed pleasure over his visit to Afghanistan and to the west of the country to meet Italian soldiers and pledged his country’s commitments during the process of security transition to the Afghan forces and during the 2015-2024 and added that in addition to the Herat Airport Italy will assist in training of national army officers and cooperate in other spheres. 
He added that the people of Italy loves Afghanistan and understands that a secure and peaceful Afghanistan indicate peace and security in Italy. 
Dr. Zalmai Rasul welcomed the proposal of Italy for conclusion of a long-term strategic treaty with Afghanistan and both expressed the hope that this document will be finalized and signed between the two nations in the near future. 
It is said that the draft of the long-term treaty between two nations was handed by the Italy’s embassy in Kabul to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan.
