UN, OIC congratulates President Ghani on his re-election as Afghanistan President

Kabul (BNA) The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterre in a message has congratulated President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on his re-election as the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. In his message, the UN Secretary-General while congratulating President Ghani on his reselection said he was happy to assure of the UN continued commitment to cooperation with the people and government of Afghanistan in addressing opportunities and challenges ahead with full partnership and joint effort. “I hope under your leadership cooperation between the United Nations and Afghanistan will further strengthen,” the UN Secretary-General added.
The UN Secretary-General has also expressed his good will for maintaining peace led by Afghans, hoping that reaching a political settlement can result in lasting peace and enduring development in Afghanistan. He assured of the UN continued support to an inclusive peace process with meaningful participation of Afghan women and youth in Afghanistan. According to another report, the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretary General Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen in a message has also congratulated President Ghani on his re-selection as the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Offering warm greetings and best wishes to President Ghani, the OIC Secretary-General in the message has expressed happiness over strong relations between Afghanistan and OIC, adding that OIC fully believe that Afghanistan would have full support of the Islamic Ummah.
In his message, the OIC Secretary-General wished President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani success in serving the people of Afghanistan.
