Leading Candidates, Govt. Officials Hold Meeting With Electoral Bodies

Kabul (BNA) The leading presidential candidates along with high ranking government officials held joint meeting with officials from the independent election commission and election complaint commission at Presidential Palace on Sunday.
In the meeting, President Hamid Karzai expressed satisfaction over successful holding April 5 elections in the country and termed it a major step towards strengthening democracy in the country.
The frontrunner Dr. Abdullah Abdullah and Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai in their speeches thanked the election commissions over holding presidential and provincial council’s elections had also proposed their viewpoints with regard to the elections.
Besides emphasizing for fairness and transparency in the election process, both the leading candidates presented their proposals for ensuring transparency of the poll’s results.
Prominent among others attended the meeting were second vice president Mohammad Karim Khalili, chairman House of People Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi, chaiman senate Fazil Hadi Muslimyar, chief justice Abdul Salam Azimi and Zuaul Haq Omarkhail the head of election commission’s secretariat.
