Kabul (BNA) First Vice President Mohammad Younus Qanooni in a session held in Paghman hill related to opening work of a commission for coordination and celebration of opening ceremony of Bamyan as cultural center of SAARC considered the organization’s decision as reason of Afghanistan’s better position regional and world countries, adding from point of view of history, Bamyan was located in center of civilizations and had great civilization. Speaking in Paghman Hill Palace on this occasion, First Vice President asserted, “We should make efforts for preparation Bamyan to such great occasion and measures should be adopted besides all preparations to prevent from destroying historic monuments of Bamyan city.” Pointing out also related to enhancing capacities and possibilities in the province for this occasion, First Vice President congratulated selection of the province to the people of Bamyan and added President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan had instructed promotion of Bamyan, Ghor and Logar provinces from third to the second degree and would be soon declared.
First Vice President expressed hope SAARC member countries would follow joint plan and coordination in connection with counter terrorism, counter narcotics and extremism creating problems and challenges in the region. Meanwhile, Minister of Information and Culture Dr. Sayeed Makhdoom Raheen spoke in the ceremony and while touching on past history and geography of Bamyan and catastrophes hit this historic land praised SAARC for its decision related to selection of Bamyan as cultural center of Sough Asian countries, hoping Bamyan would be overall rehabilitated by blessing of the nomination. Dr. Raheen also suggested Paghman Hill Palace to be named as Nowroz Palace. It is determined that Bamyan province is celebrated as first cultural center of SAARC in August 2015.
