President Karzai Meets UNESCO Director

Kabul (BNA) President Hamid Karzai met Irena Bokwa the director of UNESCO here yesterday in Presidential Palace. 
The meeting was also attended by John Kubis the special envoy of UN secretary general to Afghanistan, the president thanked UNESCO for holding a solidarity meeting with Malala Yusufzai and supporting the rights of education for girls and women across the world.   He said opposition to female education is a general problem in the region.  Particularly, girls and women on both sides of Durand Line is suffering from this problem the most. The president insisted that once Afghanistan was the vanguard on education sector among the countries of the region and the women actively took part in social affairs, but unfortunately, the wars change the ground.
Miss Bokwa emphasizing on girls education said that on the meeting also there were discussion about prevention of girls from education in Afghanistan because opposition against girl’s education is a regional problem. She added that the minister of women affairs of Afghanistan was also attended the meeting which is a clear evident that shows the important of female’s reduction in Afghanistan.
