Kabul (BNA) The NATO heads session in Wales and their support from Afghanistan once again proved that in spite of current tensions caused from prolongation of election process, Afghanistan is still at focus of international community.
Political analyst of BNA commenting on the issue writes, in spite of present tension in Afghanistan caused by prolongation of presidential election process that affected badly the economic, social and security situation of the country and addition to that, the current security crisis in the world as a whole have faced NATO to grave challenges, but NATO heads in their session in Wales emphasized on their long term commitments to Afghanistan.
The NATO secretary general while talking to correspondents in Wales said, NATO after 2014 will assist Afghan security forces in three non – combat fields, this is advising, training, and funding of Afghan forces. In addition, the NATO Chief emphasized on their commitments made in Lisbon and Chicago sessions.
It is mentionable that the current tension in the region and the world made NATO for maintaining their achievements in previous years, to assist Afghanistan. It is also a clear fact that the attacks on twin towers world trade center and US defense ministry spark anti – terrorism campaign in Afghanistan the then stronghold of terrorism. Presently they have their strongholds and sanctuaries on the other side of Durand Line.
The Afghan people who fight alongside international forced against terrorism, extremism so far have sustained have casualties, and destructions deserved to assist by international community.
On the other hand if NATO and US ignore Afghanistan the history will be repeated and once again will be become the stronghold of terrorism that not only threatens the region but the entire world.
As I mentioned above, presently the stronghold and sanctuaries of terrorists are on other side of Durand Line, therefore, NATO in order to meet its objectives for complete elimination of terrorism, should target
Terrorists in their strongholds and hideouts from where they launch terrorist attacks, otherwise NATO will never success in war against terrorism.
In any case, the Afghan suffering people ask the presidential candidates, NATO, and US truly analyzing the current military and political situation of the region act to remove the concerns of people and to meet the national interests of our country and the region.
Ignoring terrorism and supporting it with incentive and non- incentive will be fatal for all humanity. Therefore, all should think about curbing this heinous phenomenon not supporting it. Abdul Khalil Minawi
