Kabul (BNA) President Hamid Karzai strongly condemned the terrorist attack carried out on the Spozhmai Hotel at Qargha Lake a recreation area in Kabul.
According to the Ministry of Interior (MoI), at 11: 30 on Thursday night, after first killing security guards, five terrorists stormed the hotel and took civilians inside the hotel hostage.
Following an 11 hour clash, Afghan security forces eliminated the terrorists and freed all the 40 hostages.
As a result of the incident, three security guards, one police and four civilians were killed.
Denouncing the act in the strongest possible terms, the President described attacks on resorts a sign of defeat for the enemies of Afghanistan.
Wishing further successes to the Afghan security forces, the President praised them for their courage and professional behavior in successfully eliminating terrorists and rescuing civilians.
President Karzai offered his deepest condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims and called for more patience.
