President Ghani Seeks Taliban Preparation for Intra-Afghan Talks

Kabul (BNA) President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met with the Paktika provincial Ulama and religious scholars and the influential figures, the Presidential Press Office said in a statement Saturday.
Thanking the religious scholars for their fatwa against war, the president said that Paktika was not the land of difference, discords and disunity, but is the region of unity, solidarity and dignity, said the statement.
“As you defend the whole values, so I should thank you,” the statement quoted the president as saying.
The president asked the people of Paktika to send their off spring to the security forces ranks, as defection are clearly seen in their ranks.
Opening the highways are at our priority and the role of people beside security forces were vital in ensuring the highways’ security, the president added.
In connection to peace, the president said: “We want peace with Pakistan and that country should understand that a secure and stable Afghanistan was in the interest of Pakistan.”
He asked the Taliban to get ready for an intra-peace dialogue.  “We don’t give peace authority to the aliens.”
The president praised the people participation in the Wolesi Jirga elections and that both electoral commissions were committee for transparency of the process to safeguard the people’s will.
