Comprehensive Plan Needed To Address IDPs & Returnees’ Problems, President Ghani

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani chaired the High Council on Refugees here the other day, a presidential statement said.
At the outset Minister of Refugee and Repatriates as well as the ministry’s deputy ministers briefed the session on the situations of refugees and the returnees, the challenges, achievements and approval of the budget for the IDPs’ and returnees’ committee.
Meanwhile Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, UN Secretary General’s special representative to Afghanistan, deputy minister of political affairs to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hikmat Khalil Karzai, ministers of urban development and housing, education and agriculture and livestock as well as the director of the Land Authority of Afghanistan expressed the views in line with returning of the Afghan refugees from the neighboring countries.
Delivering his remarks, President Ghani emphasized on comprehensive plan for the returnees and the IDPs in the country.
The president instructed minster of justice and the Land Authority of Afghanistan to take necessary steps for preparation of a regulation and registration of the government lands as well as specify standards for its distributions.
The president went on saying that besides construction of houses to the returnees, they should also have eased with essential facilities such education.
The president said addressing the returnees’ issue was not only a ministry or directorate’s task but requires cooperation and coordination of all institutions.
