President Ghani Attends Funeral of Lt. Gen. Muhayuddin Ghori

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani participated in funeral ceremony of 207th Zafar Corps commander Lt. Gen. Muhayuddin Ghori, martyred lately due to fall of an ANA helicopter in Badghis. The country’s President and his accompanying delegation first paid a visit to the corps and participated in a session held Thursday for sadness and sympathy to the martyred families. In the session attended also by a number of high-ranking military and civil officials of the country, governors of Herat, Farah, Ghor and Badghis and a number of members of the martyred families, President Ghani offered his deep sympathy and condolence to the country’s national security and defense forces and families of martyred Ghori and Lt. Col. Abdul Wasi Pilot. The country’s President considered martyrdom of Lt. Gen. Ghori as big loss, complimented his bravery, devotion and honesty as good manner towards counter enemies and defending the country and praised him for his valuable services. President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani added that Lt. Gen. Ghori had been expert in military planning, spared no effort in recent operations against enemies and had never exaggerated in fulfilling his duties. “The children of martyred Ghori and Abdul Wasi Pilot are the same as mine and will be spared no effort in connection with investigating to all families of security and defense forces’ martyrs in particular martyred Ghori and Abdul Wasi Pilot”, President Ghani said, adding that all means available would be used for treatment of those injured. President Ghani further said that national security and defense forces in particular pilots of the country’s air force have borne heavy burden and made efforts day and night to root out enemies of the people of Afghanistan, which were appreciated. In the session, Gen. Ghori’s elder son Dr. Omid in his speech thanked the country’s President and his accompanying delegation for participation in funeral ceremony of his father and said, “I am honored that my father, who was serving to his people and country to last breath of his life, has position of a good and honest officer in hearts of the people.” He hoped that martyrdom of his father would boost bravery of his colleagues and be maintained his desires which were annihilation of the enemies and protection of independence. Brother of martyred Abdul Wasi also in his speech praised the country’s President and his accompanying delegation for participation in the funeral ceremony of his brother. Before performing funeral prayer , the country’s President and ministers of security and defense organs and a number of military and civil officials of south-western zone took coffins of the martyrs on their shoulders to place where the ceremony was to be held. After the funeral ceremony, the presidential decree related to granting the Lt. Gen. rank to martyred Ghori was read out. In the decree, it was said that the Lt. Gen. rank has been approved to martyred Ghori for his valuable and honestly services in defending the country and suppressing the enemies of the people of Afghanistan. Meanwhile, the MoD’s verdict related to granting the Lt. Col. Rank to martyred Abdul Wasi Pilot was read out and considered him as honest and home-loving human.
