British Forces Not To Return Back To Afghanistan In Any Conditions, British Defense Minister

Tuesday October 28, 2014
Kabul (BNA) British defense minister has hinted mistakes occurred during attack on Afghanistan. British defense minister Michael Faloon has said he believed army generals had made mistakes and these were military, political lines.
“First there were not proper equipment and enough forces and it was not guaranteed that Afghanistan gets secure and stable after withdrawal of foreign forces,” the minister said. The British defense minister has stressed that British forces would never return back to Afghanistan at any conditions even if Kabul and Helmand faced with widespread insecurity. The statements made at a time when last military units of US and British forces ended their military presence and handed over their military bases to Afghan forces.
Britain has handed over its last military base Bastion in Helmand to Afghan security forces; on the other hand, US military base located in vicinity of Bastion was also handed over to Afghan security forces. Bastion military base has been called as key base of British forces in Helmand since 2001 and was the biggest foreign base of Britain in the province where 10,000 British forces were stationed in 2009. So far 453 British soldiers have been killed in war on terror in Afghanistan.
