President Ghani Meets UN’s Moon, Qatari Leaders In Doha

Kabul (BNA) President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani during his 2-day visit to Doha met with the United Nations Secretary General, Ban-ki Moon at the sideline of Doha ‘16th Conference on Constancy and Welfare for All’, BNA reported Sunday.
Both sides discussed some key issues including peace process and recently successful talks with the Hezb-e-Islami Party, which was supported by the UN Sectary-General, according to the statement. He said the contents of the peace talks would be investigated under which measures needed could be made the agency quoted a statement from the Arg as saying. Mutually, President Ghani thanked the UN Secretary-General for his preparation of cooperation in this field assuring the peace talks had taken place under the country’s contents of constitution, the BNA added. Meanwhile, the UN Secretary-General expressed pleaser over the upcoming Warsaw and Brussels conferences and hoped both summits follow fruitful outcomes, the statement added. The two sides also discussed a change in Afghanistan based UN offices and appreciated the President and the government of Afghanistan for providing cooperation in this field. The President said the government of Afghanistan would warmly welcome the UN Security Council’s delegation expected to visit the country, according to the agency. Moon hoped to visit Afghanistan soon and asked the President to approve the climate changes convention, according to the agency. According to another report, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan held separate meetings with Qatar Amir, Sheikh Tamim Bin-e-Al-e-Thani and Prime Minister, Abdullah Bin-e-Nasir-e-Thani in Doha the other day, the President Press Office said in a statement. In the meeting, matters pertaining bolstering mutual cooperation in various fields in particular, business relations were discussed, the statement further said. Calling ensuring peace in Afghanistan important, Qatar officials assured of their continued cooperation with Afghanistan in different fields, the statement concluded.
