‘Won’t Bow to Taliban Proxy or Its Backer’: VP Saleh

Kabul (BNA) Afghanistan Vice-President Amrullah Saleh on Thursday said that President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani had announced the Afghan security forces led National Resistance Movement (NRM) to strengthen the country’s fight against the Taliban.

The NRM will incorporate every Afghan village and community that has stood up against attacks by Taliban terrorists.

“Every Afghan village and community that have stood up against Taliban terror offensive have been and will be incorporated under the National Resistance Movement to be led by the ANDSF (Afghan National Defense and Security Forces). It is already happening,” the Afghan President was quoted as saying in a tweet by VP Saleh.

President Ghani reportedly announced the NRM at the Joint Coordination and Monitoring Board Meeting (JCBM) in the Afghan Presidential Palace.

In his tweet, VP Saleh also asserted that Afghanistan wouldn’t bow to Taliban proxy or its backer, apparently referring to Pakistan Army, which has long supported the terror outfit.

In another tweet on Wednesday (28 July), Saleh also lambasted Pakistan Army and ISI for demanding billions of dollars from western countries under the garb of fixing the terrorism problem in Afghanistan.
