Wednesday, May 30, 2018

Kabul (BNA) Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah in a joint meeting with a number of ambassadors and representatives of foreign countries called drugs the main funding source of war and insecurity and said terrorism and insecurity have close links, his office said Tuesday.
“Drugs forms 40 to 60 percent of war financing resources in Afghanistan,” said Dr, Abdullah adding the recent air attacks on the drugs laboratories in Afghanistan have been effective and could reduce the terrorists’ financial resources.
The CE warned that drugs was a global threat for all countries, but the issue of production, consumption and trafficking of chemical devices through different ways to Afghanistan, was very serious.
He said Afghanistan needed cooperation from all, but some countries accuse only Afghanistan.  “We expect they could understand their responsibility.”
According to him, fighting drugs would never give result unless the cooperation and coordination of the international community and the regional countries.
The CE said Geneva Conference was expected to be held soon and there was a need for hard and decisive work.  He pointed to the lack of budget and lack of coordination between foreign and domestic institutions and emphasized on the joint work and coordination in this field.
He said comprehensive plan for eradiation of drugs, destruction of poppy lands and Afghanistan commitments in war on terror, would be discussed at the government level, said the statement.
