KABUL(BNA): Roza Otunbayeva, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, recently visited Fayzabad, where she held a meeting with Qari Aminullah Tayib, the Acting Governor of Badakhshan.
During the meeting, Acting Governor Qari Tayib highlighted several key issues, including the fight against narcotics, implementation of infrastructure projects, women’s participation in government and their economic growth, the economic conditions of farmers, treatment of drug addicts, and strengthening the health sector.
He also urged the UN representative to focus on these pressing needs of the people, emphasizing the importance of addressing these challenges to improve the overall well-being and development of the region.
Meanwhile, Ms. Otunbayeva acknowledged that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has effectively managed various sectors of the country during this period, and the UN will not overlook these efforts.
She noted that the upcoming Doha meeting will focus on strengthening the country’s banking system, women’s issues, job creation, health, the migration crisis, and the eradication of narcotics.
