Over 55,000 Afghan Migrants Return Through Islam Qala Border in Recent Month

HERAT(BNA): Over 55,000 Afghan migrants have returned to their homeland through the Islam Qala border in Herat in the past month, according to Mawlawi Hazrat Zaeem Agha, the commissioner of the border crossing.

Speaking to the Bakhtar News Agency, Agha reported that the deportation of Afghan migrants has markedly increased, with more than 2,000 individuals returning each day.

The commissioner highlighted that the staff at the Islam Qala commission have been working around the clock to provide necessary support to returning migrants, ensuring they receive adequate assistance during both official and unofficial hours.

Upon their return, migrant families are being offered 2,000 Afghanis per person in cash, along with food aid provided by relevant organizations from the Department of Refugees and Returnees.

The recent uptick in deportations has raised concerns, as many Afghan migrants have faced increasing pressures in neighboring Iran. The situation underscores the ongoing humanitarian challenges faced by those returning to Afghanistan.
