KABUL(BNA): In the past 24 hours, 2,649 migrants have returned to Afghanistan from the provinces of Herat, Nimroz, Kandahar, and Nangarhar, both voluntarily and involuntarily.
According to the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation, these individuals included 189 from the Torkham crossing in Nangarhar, 294 from the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar (including 33 detainees) from Pakistan, 767 from Islam Qala in Herat, and 1,399 from the Silk Bridge crossing in Nimroz.
The source stated that after their identities were registered, the returnees were referred to the offices of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the World Food Program (WFP) for assistance.
