Over 100 Afghans Released from Pakistani Prison and Reunited with Families

KABUL(BNA): More than 100 Afghan nationals were released from a central prison in Pakistan and handed over to Afghan authorities at the Torkham border crossing. The transfer took place as part of an initiative involving a Pakistani delegation and Interpol.

Haji Baz Mohammad Abdul Rahman, head of Nangarhar’s Refugees and Repatriation department, confirmed that 123 Afghans were freed after being held in Pakistan for periods ranging from two to twelve days. The detainees, primarily residents of Nangarhar and other provinces, were imprisoned due to the lack of legal residence documents.

Following their release, the individuals were introduced to the transition department to facilitate their return to their families. The process is being supported by the International Organization for Migration and the Wadan Haro Foundation, ensuring that the released individuals can reunite with their loved ones safely and promptly.
