New $50 Million Petroleum Refinery Opens in Balkh
BALKH(BNA): The Afghan Yasini Oil Refinery has officially commenced operations in Balkh, marking a significant milestone in the region’s industrial landscape. The refinery was inaugurated with an investment of $50 million, aimed at bolstering Afghanistan’s reconstruction and economic growth.
During the inauguration ceremony, Balkh Governor Mohammad Yousuf Wafa emphasized the newfound opportunities for investment within the country. He stated, “The time of tyranny and corruption is over, and now one Emir, one decree, and one unified system governs the entire country.” Governor Wafa expressed appreciation to local businessmen and urged other industrialists to return to Afghanistan and invest in its future.
Suhrab Samadi, head of the Afghan Yasini Oil Refinery, revealed that the plant was developed with an initial investment of $15 million and occupies 50 jeribs of land. With a daily refining capacity of 600 tons, the facility is expected to process approximately 18,000 tons of oil monthly. The refinery also provides employment for over 100 individuals, contributing to local job creation.
Qari Amir Mohammad Muttaqi, head of industry and commerce in Balkh, commended the refinery’s inauguration as a positive step for the region. He noted that investments are being made across various sectors in Balkh, leading to a significant increase in the country’s exports.
The opening of the Afghan Yasini Oil Refinery is anticipated to play a crucial role in Afghanistan’s economic recovery and development, reinforcing the commitment to enhance local industries and create sustainable job opportunities.
