Nearly 1 Million Afghan Migrants Return to Afghanistan

KABUL (BNA): The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has announced the return of approximately one million Afghan migrants to Afghanistan. These migrants have predominantly returned from Iran and Pakistan this year.

Abdul Mutaleb Haqqani, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations, stated that nearly 900,000 of these migrants returned from Iran alone. Following Iran, the majority of returning Afghan migrants came from Pakistan and Turkey.

It is reported that some of these returnees returned voluntarily, while many were forcibly repatriated from Iran.

According to statistics, around eight million Afghan citizens have migrated to other countries over the past decades.

The spokesperson for the Ministry also mentioned that employment opportunities have been created for nearly 48,000 returnees.

On the other hand, the Islamic Emirate has repeatedly stated that it is providing employment opportunities for unemployed youth, including returnees, through construction projects and vocational training programs.

Additionally, upon their return, migrants receive assistance from the Islamic Emirate in various regions of Afghanistan and are referred to domestic and international aid organizations for further assistance.

Since the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate and the restoration of nationwide security, the process of Afghan returnees coming back to their homeland has increased significantly.
