MoIC Concludes 3rd New Vision Short Film Festival, Honoring Afghan Filmmakers
KABUL(BNA): The Afghan Film Directorate, under the Ministry of Information and Culture, hosted the closing ceremony of the 3rd New Vision Short Film Festival today.
Speaking at the event, Mawlawi Atiqullah Azizi, Deputy Minister for Culture and Art, reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting films, documentaries, and other audiovisual productions that align with Islamic Sharia, national interests, and cultural values. He praised filmmakers for producing works that respect these principles, underscoring the importance of such creative efforts in shaping the national narrative.
Mawlawi Azizi emphasized that holding festivals of this nature plays a pivotal role in presenting an accurate and authentic image of Afghanistan to the international community, particularly at a time when hostile foreign media are attempting to misrepresent the realities of Afghanistan.
Additionally, Mawlawi Faizullah Jawhari, Director of Afghan Film, noted that the festival, which commenced a month and a half ago, featured entries in four main categories, Achievements of the Islamic Emirate, General Documentaries, Documentaries on Gaza, and Short Fiction Films.
During the ceremony, several awards were presented to recognize outstanding contributions. Abdulhaq Khuroshan received the Best Actor Award for his role in the film Cheshman Besta, Sulaiman Ghafoori was honored with the Best Cinematography Award for Bigana, Irfan Khan Safi won Best Screenplay for Takya Gah, and Abdulhadi Tahiri took home the Best Director Award.
