KABUL(BNA): In a recent press conference at the Government Media Center, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs outlined its key accomplishments from the past year.
Mawlawi Mohammad Zahid, Deputy Minister of Labor Affairs, reported that the ministry, in collaboration with partner organizations, has provided vocational and technical training to 74,738 individuals nationwide over the past year. Additionally, the ministry issued 122,136 work permits to both domestic and international applicants.
Mawlawi Zahid highlighted that the ministry’s social welfare programs supported 802,252 individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. Furthermore, 10,297 children benefited from educational opportunities in state-run kindergartens and early childhood education centers.
Spokesman Samiullah Ibrahim shared that the ministry monitored and renewed licenses for 19 private employment agencies over the past year, and two new licenses were granted to additional private employment firms. Moreover, 15 organizations received licenses to operate in vocational training, while four existing licenses were renewed.
Ibrahim also reported the successful reintegration of 2,751 children with their families, including many who had been repatriated from abroad. He emphasized the ministry’s ongoing efforts to facilitate the legal employment of Afghan workers overseas and urged Afghan youth to pursue lawful employment opportunities domestically rather than illegal migration.
Looking ahead, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs plans to focus on reducing unemployment, following up on commitments from the National Employment Conference, implementing agreements for the legal deployment of Afghan workers, establishing and equipping employment centers, and providing vocational training to 10,000 deserving individuals across the country.
