Ministry of Finance to Establish Temporary Port for TAPI Project Operations

KABUL(BNA): The Ministry of Finance announced plans to establish a temporary port in the Cheshmeh Alim border area between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan, facilitating logistical operations and enhancing bilateral cooperation.

A joint Afghan delegation, led by Haji Mufti Abdul Mateen Saeed, Deputy Minister for Revenue and Customs, met with Yelamanov, Deputy Minister for Border Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Chairman of the TAPI project, and a representative from Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Discussions centered on key operational matters, including the dispatch of technical personnel, equipment, and machinery to Afghanistan for the TAPI project, streamlining visa processes, and defining work schedules. The creation of the temporary port aims to ensure smooth transportation and logistics for project activities.

The Islamic Emirate delegation reaffirmed its commitment to the implementation of the TAPI project and approved Turkmenistan’s proposals regarding staff movement and equipment transfer. These agreements will be formalized through an exchange of notes between the foreign ministries of both countries.

The Turkmen delegation pledged to expedite the TAPI project’s progress and provide necessary resources to ensure its timely execution.
