Kabul (BNA) Acting Minister of Information and Culture, Mohammad Tahir Zuhair emphasized on expansion of the country’s cultural traditions, Bakhtar Information Agency reported Monday.
Speaking in a ceremony held in Kabul on Monday night, to celebrate the traditional Yalda Night, the acting minister said the philosophy of the Yalda was conquering of light over darkness and added that it was part of the country’s old traditions and that his led ministry had specific plans for the rehabilitation and more enlargement of Afghanistan’s ancient traditions.
According to him, cultural works were the basis of change in a society and noted that no change would come into a society without cultural work. He also hoped expansion of cultural works could help bring development in other areas.
Touching on the background of the Yalda night, former Minister of Information and Culture, Dr. Sayed Makhdoom Raheen said the main aim of marking Yalda or the longest night of the Fall season was the victory of light over darkness and that the people get together in the longest night, narrates their unity and agreement in fighting darkness.
“The message of Yalda, this year, is that we, the great Afghan family, get united and stay alongside each other in order to have the sun of blessing shine all over this land,” Raheen added.
