Mes Aynak Copper Extraction Set to Boost Afghanistan’s Mining Investment, Says Acting Minister of Mines
KABUL(BNA): The Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum has emphasized that the commencement of the Mes Aynak copper extraction project in Logar Province will significantly boost investment in Afghanistan’s mining sector.
According to the Ministry’s official statement, Mawlawi Hidayatullah Badri, Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum, met with Mr. Song Win Bing, President of MCC, the company responsible for executing the Mes Aynak project. During the meeting, they reviewed the project’s progress and exchanged views on its implementation.
The MCC President reiterated the company’s commitment to ensuring the timely initiation of extraction activities in line with the agreed schedule and operational plan.
Minister Badri expressed confidence that the start of practical extraction at Mes Aynak would lead to an influx of foreign investments into Afghanistan’s mining sector.
He noted that this marks a significant milestone, not only for the country’s economic future but also for strengthening bilateral cooperation between Afghanistan and its international partners.
