Mawlavi Abdul Kabir Meets NRC Secretary General to Discuss Aid for Afghan Refugees

KABUL(BNA): Mawlavi Abdul Kabir, the Acting Minister of Refugees and Repatriation Affairs, held a meeting with Jan Egeland, Secretary General of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), to discuss ongoing humanitarian efforts for Afghan refugees and internally displaced persons.
During the meeting, Egeland provided an overview of the NRC’s activities in Afghanistan, highlighting their assistance to internally displaced individuals and refugees from Iran and Pakistan.
Egeland proposed the smoothing of agreement-signing processes and the removal of obstacles to expedite assistance for refugees, aiming to improve operational efficiency in the region.
In response, Mawlawi Abdul Kabir expressed appreciation to the Norwegian government for its humanitarian efforts and the establishment of the NRC in Afghanistan. He underscored the dual challenges of refugee evacuation from neighboring countries and the pressing issue of internal displacement.
He assured Egeland of the Afghan government’s cooperation and pledged to work on resolving existing challenges in the humanitarian sector.
