Khost Customs Unveils 105 Million AFN Parking Facility for Heavy Vehicles

KHOST(BNA): Local officials in Khost have announced the completion of a modern parking facility for heavy and cargo vehicles at the Khost Customs Department, built at a cost of 105 million Afghanis.
The parking facility, constructed on 14 jeribs of land within the Khost Customs Department, is designed with modern concrete structures and includes water and lighting systems. It is equipped with all necessary amenities for customs operations and can accommodate up to 300 vehicles. The project was completed in eight months, funded by the General Directorate of Customs, and was officially inaugurated today, Tuesday.
Qari Abdul Samad Saeed, the Director of Goods Inspection at the Khost Customs Department, stated that the previous parking area was small and inadequate, unable to accommodate the daily influx of vehicles. During the rainy season, vehicles would become stuck in mud, and goods could not be properly inspected or monitored. The construction of this modern and durable facility has resolved these issues, providing significant convenience.
Drivers and traders have also expressed satisfaction with the new facility. Among them, Alamuddin and Mohammad Jan noted that the improved parking area now protects their goods from dust and mud, addresses challenges related to vehicle parking, inspections, and monitoring, and prevents vehicles from parking on the main road. They also called for the remaining sections of the parking area to be paved and completed.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mawlawi Hedayatullah, a representative of the General Directorate of Customs, stated that similar projects are planned for all customs departments across Afghanistan. He urged drivers and the staff of the Khost Customs Department to ensure the proper maintenance of the newly constructed facility.
