Kabul Municipality to Construct Three Car Bridges to Alleviate Traffic Congestion

KABUL(BNA): The Kabul municipality has announced plans to construct three car bridges in key areas of the city. Nematullah Barakzai, an official from the Kabul Municipality’s media office, confirmed to Bakhtar News Agency that the design and plans for the bridges have been finalized.

The proposed locations for the bridges include the Baraki Intersection, directly in front of the Kabul Governor’s Office, and near the historic Minaret of Najat in the old city. Barakzai emphasized that these car bridges will play a crucial role in reducing traffic congestion and enhancing the daily commute for citizens.

Funded by the Kabul Municipality’s budget, the bridges are part of a broader initiative that includes plans to construct ten additional flyover bridges throughout the city. Barakzai highlighted that these developments aim to facilitate movement, particularly for school students, and to minimize the risk of traffic accidents.

Local residents have warmly welcomed the municipality’s decision. Ahmad Shoaib, a resident of District One, expressed his support, stating that the construction of flyover bridges is vital for preventing congestion and ensuring safer roads. Similarly, Mohammad Zahid Zaman from District Four noted that the bridges would not only enhance convenience and order but also contribute to the aesthetic appeal of the capital.

Since the establishment of the Islamic Emirate in Afghanistan, the Kabul Municipality has undertaken several important projects aimed at improving traffic flow and adding beauty to the city. The community’s response reflects a growing optimism regarding the municipality’s commitment to urban development and the well-being of its citizens.
