Islamic Cooperation Organization Ready to Expand Assistance with Afghanistan

 

KABUL(BNA): During a meeting with Deputy PM for Administrative Affairs, the head of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) discussed the organization’s readiness to cooperate with Afghanistan in various fields.

According to the ARG statement, on Saturday, Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi, the Deputy PM for Administrative Affairs, met with Dr. Tariq Ali Bakheet, the Deputy of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for Human, Cultural, and Social Affairs, and his special representative for Afghanistan, along with his accompanying delegation, which includes officials from the organization’s human rights, economic, social affairs, and youth departments.

In this meeting, Mawlavi Hanafi, highlighted the Islamic Emirate’s aspirations for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, emphasizing the importance of heeding the advice of its officials. He also expressed a keen desire to strengthen Afghanistan’s ties with the organization

He further expressed hope that the Organization of Islamic Cooperation would effectively represent Afghanistan’s challenges and its true image worldwide. He cordially invited the Secretary-General of the organization to visit Afghanistan, emphasizing the shared responsibility of Islamic nations in addressing common issues and hardships.

He highlighted Afghanistan’s transition from conflict to governance, underscoring the importance of support from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation across various sectors. Additionally, he emphasized the invitation of representatives from the Islamic Emirate to the organization’s forthcoming meeting in Gambia, aiming to facilitate dialogue and convey the ground realities of Afghanistan.

Moreover Deputy Hanafi reaffirmed that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s policy is non-aggression towards any nation. He stated they prioritize an economy-centered approach and refrain from meddling in other countries’ affairs, expecting the same respect for Afghanistan’s sovereignty.

In Response, Dr. Tariq Ali Bakheet, Deputy Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, conveyed greetings and best wishes to Mullah Abdul Salam Hanafi and mentioned the upcoming OIC sessions in Gambia and expressed readiness for collaboration with Afghanistan.

Dr. Noorah Al-Rashood, the head of the Independent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, along with Ms. Aminah Al-Hajiri, overseeing Cultural, Social, and Internal Affairs, and Ms. Afnan Al-Shuaibi, leading Women’s Development within the organization, were also present in the meeting and spoke.

In addition to providing information about their respective organizations’ activities, they said: “We have witnessed significant progress in Afghanistan, contrary to the negative portrayal often depicted in the media.”

The delegation further announced plans for partnerships between the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Turkey’s TIKA institution, and Azerbaijan’s development agency, with Afghanistan as the primary beneficiary, aiming to foster greater development initiatives in the country.
