Iran-Afghanistan Discuss Enhanced Cooperation

 

KABUL(BNA): Mawlavi Abdul Kabir, the deputy Prime Minister, welcomed Alireza Bigdeli, the Iranian Ambassador to Kabul, in his office. The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral ties and economic cooperation between the two neighboring countries.

Ambassador Bigdali emphasized the importance of activating the Chabahar port as a pivotal step in fostering economic ties. He expressed Iran’s commitment to expanding cooperation agreements with Afghanistan, reflecting a mutual interest in strengthening their partnership.

During the meeting, Deputy PM Mawlavi Kabir congratulated Bigdali on his appointment and expressed optimism regarding the future of Afghanistan-Iran relations. He highlighted the historical connections and shared interests between the two nations and reiterated the Islamic Emirate’s intention to promote economic and political collaboration.

Mawlavi Abdul Kabir encouraged Iranian investors and businessmen to explore opportunities in Afghanistan, asserting that the Islamic Emirate aims to pursue regional stability and economic growth without letting external factors disrupt their bilateral relations.

He also conveyed gratitude to Iran for hosting Afghan refugees, urging for improved facilities and a humane approach to their treatment. He stressed that forced deportations should be avoided to maintain goodwill.

The deputy prime minister reassured that there are no underlying issues that could jeopardize Iran-Afghanistan relations, noting that drug cultivation and trafficking have been significantly reduced and that irrigation concerns between the two countries have been amicably resolved. He cautioned against irresponsible statements that could negatively impact the diplomatic relationship.
