Interior Minister Haqqani Engages UAE Officials on Enhancing Regional Security and Economic Cooperation


KABUL(BNA): Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, announced that the Acting Minister of Interior Affairs recently engaged in discussions with officials from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). These discussions resulted in agreements on several key issues.

Mujahid Wrote on his X page that Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani met with UAE officials to strengthen bilateral relations and secure UAE assistance in health and construction for Afghanistan’s security sectors.

The discussions covered a range of critical issues, including the release of Afghan prisoners from UAE jails, the development of a mechanism for issuing visas to Afghans, the digitization of Afghanistan’s traffic system, assurances regarding Afghanistan’s security, the maintenance of current stability, and joint efforts to enhance regional security.

Following these discussions, UAE officials pledged to support Afghanistan’s reconstruction efforts and expressed keen interest in having Emirati companies invest across various sectors within the country.

Earlier, Zabihullah Mujahid reported that Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani, along with Mullah Abdul Haq Wasiq, the General Director of Intelligence, visited the UAE and had a meeting with the Emir in Abu Dhabi.
