India Reaffirms Commitment to Afghanistan’s Development via Chabahar Port

KABUL (BNA): The Ministry of External Affairs of India has emphasized the significance of Chabahar Port in facilitating trade and supporting Afghanistan’s economic growth and reconstruction.

These remarks were made during discussions between Indian and Iranian diplomatic officials. In a statement, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs announced that Vikram Misri and Majid Takht Ravanchi, deputy ministers of foreign affairs for India and Iran, respectively, discussed enhancing bilateral relations, including trade through Chabahar Port, and its critical role in fostering economic growth and reconstruction in Afghanistan.

India’s Deputy Foreign Minister underscored the importance of Chabahar Port in aiding Afghanistan’s rebuilding and economic development.

Eight years ago, India, Iran, and Afghanistan signed a trilateral agreement to develop Chabahar Port and strengthen trade relations through this strategic route.

Located in southeastern Iran, Chabahar Port connects Afghanistan to the Indian Ocean via the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea.
