India-Afghanistan Strengthen Ties Through Chabahar Port

 

KABUL(BNA): Acting Foreign Minister Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi met with Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri to discuss trade and cooperation through the Chabahar Port.

The meeting, attended by deputy ministers from Afghanistan’s industry, commerce, transport, and aviation ministries, focused on political, economic, and cultural ties between the two countries.

Minister Muttaqi expressed appreciation for India’s ongoing humanitarian assistance and emphasized Afghanistan’s desire to bolster political and economic relations as a key player in the region.

He assured the Indian delegation that Afghanistan poses no threat to any nation and expressed hopes for establishing visa provisions for traders, patients, and students to further strengthen diplomatic connections.

Foreign Secretary Misri reaffirmed India’s commitment to its historical relationship with Afghanistan, highlighting the humanitarian aid provided over the past three and a half years. He underscored India’s interest in assisting Afghanistan with infrastructure projects and commended the Islamic Emirate’s efforts in maintaining peace, and stability and combating drugs and corruption.

Both sides agreed on the importance of facilitating visa processes and enhancing trade, particularly through the strategic Chabahar Port, a vital link for landlocked Afghanistan.
